Biography

Beatriz Montes is a spanish cellist based in The Hague.

She began playing the cello at the age of 4, taught by her sister, and later learnt under the guidance of Blanca López and Raúl Pinillos. She formalised her musical studies with Álvaro Huertas at the 'Conservatorio Profesional de Música Victoria de los Ángeles' in Madrid, where she finished her preliminary studies with honors.

In 2017 she moved to The Netherlands to further her development as a cellist and musician. She studied the bachelor degree with Timora Rosler at HKU Utrechts Conservatory, receiving the 'Steyenbergprijs' for her final exam. She then completed the master's degree at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag, studying with Lucia Swarts.

Beatriz has also received advice during masterclasses from Viola de Hoog, Harro Ruijsenaars, Thomas Carroll, Gabriel Schwabe, Susana Stefanovic, Guillermo Pastrana, Alexander Gebert and David Pia, between others.

Beatriz enjoys the most playing together with other musicians, which make her take part of different chamber music groups and orchestras. During her studies, she received chamber music formation and orchestra training from Roger Regter and Sebastian Koloski. She has taken part in chamber music masterclasses and collaborations with Cuarteto Leonor, Cuarteto Casals and Gareth Lubbe. Aditionally, she has performed at festivals such as Akademiefestivalen in Stockholm and Música Música in Bilbao. She has also been member of diverse orchestras like Nederland Jong Orkest and Utrechts Youth Orchesta, between others.

Her passion for music education has led her to teach cello at 'Muziekschool De Muzen' in Veenendaal, and in 'Muziekschool Katwijk'.

Beatriz plays a cello made by Tobias Gräter in 2015.
